Celebrate Australia day with your Jag! Enjoy a picnic with your JDCQ friends.
Date: Australia Day - Monday 26th January 2015
Venue: Cormorant Bay at Wivenhoe Dam.
Cormorant Bay offers very pleasant picnic amenities with wonderful views of Wivenhoe Dam. There is plenty of shade with ample tables and seating (benches). Drinking water is on site as are electric BBQ facilities. There is a café at Cormorant Bay which is open on public holidays.
Who Can Attend? This event is for all JDCQ club members and their guests, however we certainly extend a warm welcome those who are interested in joining our club to come along. We hope that you join our club. New members are encouraged to attend.
Bring: Your Jag! Bring morning tea to enjoy and or share. Bring: Tea or coffee, cold drinks Bring: Tablecloths, cutlery (if required), plates and perhaps your own chairs. Lunch: Electric BBQs on site at Cormorant Bay should you wish to “throw a few shrimps (or a lamb chop) on the barby”. Please bring you own BBQ utensils, tongs, plates, cooking oils and dressings Don’t Bring: Glass! For the safety of others, SEQWater who manage the park, request that we not bring glass drinking vessels. Plastic is best for safety.
Times: Arrival at Cormorant Bay between 10.30am and 11.00am for a ‘meet & greet’ morning tea and relaxing day to follow.
Travel: It is proposed that we travel to Wivenhoe Dam in Jaguar convoys. Choose from the following or come on your own:
1. Goupong Park at Redbank – please arrive from 9.00am for a 9.30am departure. Gold Coast Register members are invited to assemble at this point. Travel will be via the Ipswich bypass and the Brisbane Valley Highway – distance 50kms (app).
2. Albany Creek Tavern car park, 730 Albany Creek Road - arrive from 8.30am for a departure at 9.00am (sharp). Travel will be via Samford, Mt Glorious and Splityard Creek Road.
3. Caboolture (Meet in King St. just before the Caboolture Swimming Pool) – arrive 8.30am for a 9.00am (sharp) departure. Travel via Kilcoy and Somerset Dam then through Esk.
4. Toowoomba Register members – it is suggested that those coming from Toowoomba will travel via Gatton to Lowood and on to Fernvale and Wivenhoe Dam.
Directions: The turnoff into the Cormorant Bay Park is on your right immediately before you proceed over the dam wall (if you are travelling from the south, eg Ipswich, Fernvale).
For those travelling from the North it is on your left just after crossing the Wivenhoe dam wall on the Brisbane Valley Highway
