1972 E-Type Series 3 Manual Fixed Head Coupe
Chassis Number IS51210 Engine Number 7S5764SB
British Racing Green with Cinnamon Trim. Registered XKE53L till February 2026.
Delivered new by Bryson’s Sydney in November 1972 and owned by me for 35 years since purchase in 1990, then with just under 60,000 miles recorded.
The car was very original and sound both mechanically and bodily but in need of cosmetic restoration. In late 1990 Graeme Lord was given the task to restore it to Concours condition. It was stripped back to the body shell with engine, gearbox, all suspension and interior trim removed exposing some rusty panels in the bulkhead and engine frame. All of this was fully repaired and repainted. All other removed items were either re-plated, painted, or powder coated, and all rubbers and bushes replaced along with a new wiring harness and stainless-steel exhaust system. Graeme overhauled the engine including new head gaskets and bearings and any other engine items where necessary. He also serviced the gearbox and restored both front and rear suspensions and brake system as well as completely restoring the under body.
The interior trim was completely replaced by renowned WR Gentle trimmers in Sydney to full authenticity making it then in effect as good as, if not better than, a brand-new E-Type.
As a result, at the Jaguar National Rally in Melbourne in 1991, it won the E-Type Class outright and came fourth overall behind three fully professionally restored XK’s.
The car has been maintained in excellent overall condition and would have to be up there with the very best Series 3 E-types with now only 71600 miles recorded.
Driven only sparingly now and should go to a new owner who will savour all it offers.
Offers around the $165000 mark will be considered.
