Jaguar cars of the 1930s were
known as SS models. In the 1940's these became the Jaguar Saloon,
later known as the Mk IV, and the Jaguar Mk V. The latter was the
last Jaguar of hand built body style with long flowing guards and
running boards.

The Mark VII, VIII, IX were elegant, sporting saloons built between October 1950 and 1961.
The Mark VII was the car the famous XK engine was developed for by Sir William
Lyons and his team of engineers. The VII was the first 100 mph Jaguar Saloon,
which fulfilled a long held dream of Lyons.
During its career, the Mark VII was successful at high level motor racing and
rallying, winning the Monte Carlo Rally in 1956, and the Silverstone Daily
Express Touring Car race several years in a row.
